Kevin Guidry was first elected to the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury on September 18, 2004. He is currently serving his fourth term as Police Juror. Kevin served as Vice President in 2008 and President in 2010. Mr. Guidry represents District 9, which includes the City of Lake Charles area and portions of Ward 3. He currently serves as a committee member of the following police jury committees: Public Works; Ways and Means; Agenda (in which he serves as chairman); General Insurance (in which he serves as Vice Chairman); Parish-wide Drainage; and Special Service Districts Review.
Kevin currently holds the position of Louisiana Sales Manager for L’Auberge Casino and Resort. He heads the division for contracting sales for the L’Auberge Meeting and Event Center, and works directly with corporate, government, and association sectors to stage their conferences, meetings and events at the resort. Kevin has more than seventeen years of experience in sales, marketing, and casino operations.
Kevin received a Bachelor of Arts degree in mass communications with a minor in journalism from Louisiana State University. While studying at LSU, Kevin also played for the LSU Tigers on an athletic scholarship. After graduation Kevin continued his football journey playing professional football in the National Football League for the Denver Broncos, Atlanta Falcons, and the Phoenix Cardinals. He also played in the Arena League and World League for the Orlando Thunder and the Tampa Bay Storm respectively. Football continues to be an important part of Kevin’s busy life as he hosts a weekly sports talk show, Sound Off 60, which airs in the Southwest Louisiana market, and he has provided sideline coverage for Tiger Vision in Baton Rouge covering Louisiana State University home games.
Kevin is also an extremely active member of the community. He serves on numerous boards and is dedicated to the works of the American Red Cross, AMIkids, Southwest Louisiana Board of Trustees, LSU Football Alumni Inc,. ACT Inc., and the Calcasieu Parish School Board Drug Advisory Board. He is a member of the Faith Vision Ministries Church, and is actively involved on the Deacon Board, sports ministry, marriage ministry, and Christian based football and basketball camps throughout Louisiana.
Zeta Phi Beta Sorority honored Kevin with the Community Service Award in 2003 and 2008. In 2005, he earned the Martin Luther King, Jr. Coalition Black History Hall of Fame Trailblazer Award. And in 2011, Kevin Guidry was honored by the Zion Tabernacle Baptist Church for his community service with the Bayou Classic Christian Fellowship of Southwest Louisiana.
Kevin and his wife, Michelle, have two children and 1 grandchild.
