Kevin’s Priorities For Louisiana

MLK Highway – We have to address the traffic issue at the Moeling St. Interchange, including left turns crossing northbound traffic.

I-10 Corridor Development – This will bring businesses and economic development into Lake Charles- North. I want to work with the City Administration regarding Development in the Downtown District, Development along Enterprise Blvd and Hwy 14. (Why can’t we have a Starbucks or other Coffee house on Hwy 14?)

Continue with the Economic Development – Continuing to work with and assist Chennault in their strategic plan for growth and development. As Chennault expands this brings additional good paying jobs into our community.

Small Business Development – I want to work with organizations and groups to assist more entrepreneurs to bring more small businesses into the district. I will work with LA Dept of Economic Development, the SEED Center, McNeese and North L.C. Redevelopment to expand programs to help bring small business into the district.

Health Care – Access to affordable health care is important. We need a focus on primary and preventive care. We must ensure that our citizens have access to health care in our community. I commend the great work SWLA Center for Health Services does right here in our community. The exceptional staff of qualified health care professionals do a wonderful job of providing quality care right here in our own community.

Education – The success of any community begins with a solid foundation. That foundation is built on investing in our education system. From early childhood development all the way to higher education. Education and jobs go hand-in-hand. We applaud the great work that Sowela does to prepare our citizens to enter the workforce. I want to work with administrators and educators at all levels to ensure they have the necessary tools and resources necessary to educate and teach our future.

Housing – As the Region grows and develop, we need to maintain and increase population growth in the District. We need to promote home ownership in the District at all price points.

If you give me the opportunity to be your representative, I promise that no one will out work me. But more important I will listen. I will listen to the concerns of citizens of District 34. I promise to speak the truth. Sometimes it is hard to discuss bad news or promises that can not be kept. If I’m unable to commit to something I promise to be honest with the voters and explain why I’m unable to commit. Transparency is important.
